Final Transmission Bio

Final Transmission, formerly known as the Jake Dial Band was formed in 2019 in Pell City, Alabama. The band origionally consisted of 4 members and played mainly covers of famous country hits and classic rock tunes from Lynyrd Skynyrd, To Merle Haggard, some of Jake Dial’s own original material, and many more. 

Jake Dial - Founder and current bassist/lead vocalist of the band from Talladega, Alabama found his love for music at the early age of 12. He started singing in school choirs, learned to play the 6 string guitar, and at the age of 16 joined his church’s youth ministry band where he played lead guitar. At the age of 21, he began connecting with local musicians and worked with various project bands and solo performances until forming The Jake Dial band in 2019 consisting of musicians David Summers (Bass/Vocals), Wesley Rhodes (Drums), and Brandon Prince (Lead Guitars/Saxophone). 

Lineup changes had occurred from 2021-2022 until Jake hired longtime friend Al Crump in 2023 as the bands current lead guitarist/backup vocals. That same year, Al introduced Jake to drummer Shane Robertson and along with David, the 4 members began to grow a strong bond and begun transitioning to a modern/80’s/90’s classic and alternative rock band. 

After the unfortunate passing of longtime bassist David Summers in the summer of 2024, Jake moved to the bass and the band continued as a three-piece. After a group decision in the fall of 2025, the band thought it best to rebrand and put a new face to the public eye, thus Final Transmission was born. 

Jake, in his spare time, enjoys playing APA Pool league with his wife on Sunday afternoons and traveling the country. Jake enjoys playing his Sterling Pete Wentz Signature Bass and it’s a mainstay at every show. His number one goal is to provide great music for even greater people (And eventually play a beach gig somewhere cause that’s the only place acceptable to wear shorts and flip flops).

Al Crump - Al, from Ashville, Alabama, has been playing guitar for several years in various projects and bands, most notably Bedlam, who were prevalent in the Birmingham area during the mid 2000’s to 2010’s. Al, a father and avid lover of the game of darts, has been a welcomed addition to Final Transmission and has recently begun offering his services as backup vocalist for the band. Al brings the witty and comical side to the band being known as the jokester so to say and never leaves anyone with a dull moment. Al’s signature guitar, a teal double humbucker Fender Tele, has been with him for almost every show we’ve played since 2023 (He’s the only guy I’ve ever seen break an A-String).

Shane Robertson - Shane, from Odenville, Alabama, has been drumming in various projects for several years and also owns his own plumbing business. Shane is also a husband and father and an avid lover of darts. He is deeply involved in his children’s lives and school events and does his best to make the best use of his time. Shane owns a professional SJC Drum Kit and can break out the cowbell too if you need more or it. Shane being the heartbeat of the band has been the logistical guru, setlist manager, and an all around professional when it comes to setting the stage for a great show (Even though he may drop a drumstick a time or two).

The band has grown deep roots in the Birmingham, Alabama area and since then, has made bonds with many other musicians, lovers of music, great people, and performed at several venues and events across the state of Alabama and surrounding states most notably performing at the Pregame show for the Birmingham Barons game on August 16th of 2026. The band has also played for great causes over the years such as the North Central Neurology Associates Annual MS Walk, the Stillery Benefit Concert and many more.

Always willing to jam anywhere and anytime, the band brings high energy, rocking tunes, professional pa with powered mains, subs, digital mixers and lighting to every stage they play. The band is flexible with solo and duo performances as well branding as Final Transmission - Jake Dial and Final Transmission - Dead Air Duo.
